FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANIZATION

The fundamental objectives of the organization shall be namely;

• To unite social organization of adults, youth, elders, and special organization, such as organization of disabled people, etc in Lindi and Mtwara regions for their own development in their own areas.
• To encourage self employed social organization to participate fully in the war against ignorance, diseases and poverty.
• To fuel development changes in the society, especially to encourage people, indigenous and non indigenous of the regions of Lindi and Mtwara to establish small scale enterprises for the production of raw materials and the provision of social services as a way of taking part in the struggle against poverty in the two regions and the nations as a whole.
• To participate fully in the war against child labour abuse.
• In co-operation with district councils and all villages, the organization intends to set up groups for environmental conservation such as conserving forest and natural sources of water.
• As for natural resources and tourism, there shall be a special program of good neighbourhood of members of the organization [villages of the respective areas] and/with TANAPA [Tanzania National Parks Authority], Selous, Department of Wild Animals and that of Tourism, which are Government institutions.
• To fuel change in Education, Health, Agriculture, Fishing, Small scale Industries, Animal Husbandry, Business Education of SME [Small and Medium scale Enterprises] and to fight against HIV/AIDS and Malaria in Lindi and Mtwara regions.

OTHER OBJECTIVES

1.5.1. To alleviate poverty and under subsistence life of the people of Lindi and Mtwara regions by the use of their resources and manpower in order to build their capacities for their own interest under the leadership of SEDO and the implementation of the polices of SELF. By the means of:

• Co-operating with any Government organ, participant, villages, other NGO’s as well as the private sector in stimulating social and Economic development of the people of Lindi and Mtwara regions.
• Carrying out research on development for the interest of the people of Lindi and Mtwara regions, and for the interest of the National as a whole.
• Involving the people in planning and undertaking matters pertaining to development as specified by principle of their needs in their own areas.
• Evaluating the implementation of plans, setbacks and problems with the views to provide the advice need to the responsible people.
• Collecting manpower and resources of the people of Lindi and Mtwara regions to be used in their development activities.
• Establishing social and economic projects under the leadership of SEDO.
• Advising on equal distribution of land development project in the regions, zones and all villages.
• Consolidating and improving the indigenous culture of the people of Lindi and Mtwara regions, and their tribes.
• Cooperating with national and international organizations whose goals and objectives coincide with those of this Organization in cultivating people’s self-help spirit to bring about their own development.
• Inter alia, undertaking all activities as per required or in accordance with this constitution, and that in the operational areas, even though not mentioned in the objectives, nothing shall hinder the execution. Except for political and pseudo-political activities, this organization shall be free to run any activities directed towards developing the target persons.
• Inter alia, this organization shall be an agent of Government in the realization of social and economic development of the people of the respective regions.
• Providing Education on prevention of corruption, and bad customs (e.g. genital mutilation, etc).
